For over 30 years, Rural Human Services has served individuals and businesses in Del Norte County. Our community outreach programs touch the lives of more than 2,000 people a month. Our professional service programs provide training, instruction, and assistance to individuals, organizations and local businesses.

RHS is an independent, non-profit agency, operated by a volunteer board of directors and a dedicated staff.

RURAL HUMAN SERVICES Joins The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge

 

Crescent City residents can contribute to help provide life-changing domestic violence and

financial abuse services

 

WHAT:          New research from The Allstate Foundation confirms domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in her lifetime. Ninety eight percent of these women will also suffer financial abuse, often indicating whether they will stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship. To raise awareness for domestic violence and the role finances play in helping survivors break free from abuse, The Allstate Foundation has created the Purple Purse Challenge to encourage Americans to contribute to organizations in their local communities.

 

The Allstate Foundation selectedRHS/HARRINGTON HOUSE as one of more than 140 participating charities across the country to be a part of the Purple Purse Challenge. RHS/HARRINGTON HOUSE was selected for its commitment to providing financial empowerment services to domestic violence survivors. All donations collected will benefit this cause.

to contribute. Each week, RHS/HARRINGTON HOUSE will have the chance to win additional money through sponsored contests, more than $500,00 in total prize funding will be provided by The Allstate Foundation.

 

Weekly Contests Include:

  • Sept. 3 – Sept. 9: Participants that raise at least $250 are entered to win $10,000
  • Sept. 9 – Sep. 16: Participants that get five donations are entered to win $10,000
  • Sept. 23 – Sept. 30: The first three participants to raise $1,000 from 10 donors win $5,000
  • Sept. 30 – Oct. 3: Participants that get the greatest number of donations win $10,000
  • Donor Challenges: Those who donate are entered in a weekly drawing to win a limited-edition purple purse. Additionally, one person and guest can win a trip to the purse launch event on Sept 15 in NY. For full rules and details please visit CrowdRise.com/PurplePurse
