Domestic Violence Tribal Liaison – At the HARRINGTON HOUSE. General schedule is Monday – Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. However the Tribal Liaison may be called in urgent situations to visit the shelter or business center and attend to situations as needed.  The Tribal liaison will collaborate with Tribal partners, tribal community agencies and other partners of RHS Harrington House. The DV Tribal Liaison is responsible to respond to and assess the client’s needs, take appropriate actions, and access services for the client to be provided through RHS and other community agencies. The Tribal Liaison will prepare client records.  The Tribal liaison will assist clients in legal options that are directly related to the client’s experience of violence and which are likely to increase the victim’s safety and security; such as assisting in completing Tribal and/or county restraining orders, custody orders, legal separation/divorce forms, housing forms, explaining county & tribal court procedures, accompanying clients through the tribal and county court process, and/or other referrals to outside services when needed.

Qualifications: Knowledge of English grammar, usage and spelling  Able to pass a background check and drug screening test Valid drivers license and automobile insurance and ability to transport clients using company vehicles Associates Degree with an emphasis on pre-law or corrections with equivalent training and/or documentable experience commensurate with the position. Excellent computer skills especially with database, word processing, and spreadsheet programs Prior experience working within the judicial system, Tribal Court, or social services as a victim advocate or legal assistant. Excellent Writing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills. Ability and willingness to participate in additional training for skill improvement. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to use time efficiently to meet agency reporting requirements and deadlines. Ability to follow directions. Ability to respond reliably and consistently under pressure. Ability and willingness to communicate and work effectively with supervision and staff as a team member, as well as independently. Empathy and understanding of issues addressed in the RHS Harrington House mission statement. Free from personal involvement in a domestic violence relationship for at least one year at time of employment. Successful completion of the 40 hour legislatively mandated domestic violence training.
